“Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?” ― Mary Oliver, New and Selected Poems
Hello! If you’ve been here before simply scroll down and get your Quickie:) If you’re new, here’s a little intro: Welcome to Kate’s Quickies, my mini blog posts where I give you one link or one video to help you on your writing journey. Why one? Because you already know there are tons of great writing blogs and websites out there with lots of information. Putting it simply, this is the place to go to if you want to get some great info from the pros so you can quickly get on with your life and your writing. If you’re facing a time crunch today, no need to comment. If you do, I’ll reply. The no-comment thing is just my way of giving you a few extra precious moments in your day to do what you love. Write. All links will be posted on the Kate’s Quickie page at the top of this blog so you can come back anytime.
Can a mid-list traditionally published children’s author who spends little time on social media find success? Yes, she can and as it turns out she’s not the only one. What did the author of Grave Mercy and others do to get pre-empts at auction and book promo deals?
Here’s the link: The Writer’s Life Is Full of Second Chances
It’s worthwhile to read the comments on this post too. Very valuable info in there from agents, editors and authors.
Enjoy your day, take a deep breath, and go write something good!

I love the Mary Oliver quote – I’ve recently discovered her poetry and I can’t get enough!
I love her poetry too, it just speaks to my heart. It’s always nice to find someone who feels the same way:) Thanks for stopping by Liv!
Your quickies are awesome. Very interesting post, you’re right the comments are great too. Gives us all hope that we won’t have to become a social media slave.
I felt the same way about the hope she brings to this post. I breathed a huge sigh of relief 🙂 Granted she had to work her butt off and take some risks. I hope I have enough insight to do the same if I’m lucky enough to be in a similar situation. Thanks Tameri!
Stopping by to check out your quickie…love the quote! I’ll have to read the post tomorrow, but it sounds interesting. I’d love to lessen the pressure of staying on top of social media! Thanks, Kate!
You are welcome Marcia. Thanks.
